1. Backup Your Data

  • Apple (iPhone):
    • iCloud: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.
    • iTunes: Connect your iPhone to your computer and use iTunes to back up your data.
  • Samsung (Android):

    • Samsung Cloud: Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Backup and restore > Back up data and select what to back up.
    • Google Backup: Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Backup data to ensure all data is synced to your Google account.
  • Android:

    • Google Backup: Go to Settings > System > Backup and make sure Google Backup is on. Ensure photos and other data are synced with Google Photos.

2. Transfer Data to New Device

  • If you have purchase a new device this can be setup from your old device, see how to video for guidance.

3. Sign Out of Accounts

  • Apple (iPhone):
    • Go to Settings > For iPhones with Face ID: Tap Face ID & Passcode; for those with a Home button: Tap Touch ID & Passcode > Enter your device passcode > scroll down and tap Stolen Device Protection > Toggle Stolen Device Protection off to turn Off Stolen Device Protection.
    • Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign Out to remove your Apple ID and disable Find My iPhone.
  • Samsung (Android)/strong>:

    • Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Samsung account > Remove account to unlink your Samsung account.
    • Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Accounts > Google and remove your Google account.
  • Android:
    • Go to Settings > Accounts to remove any Google or third-party accounts.

4. Erase Personal Data (Factory Reset)

  • Apple (iPhone):
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will delete everything and restore the phone to factory settings.
  • Samsung (Android):
    • Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset.
    • Tap Reset and follow the on-screen instructions to wipe your phone.
  • Android:
    • Go to Settings > System > Reset > Factory data reset and confirm the action to erase all data and settings.

5. Remove SIM and SD Cards

  • Apple (iPhone):
    • Remove your SIM card using a SIM ejector tool (usually located on the side of the device).
  • Samsung (Android):
    • Open the SIM card tray (located on the top or side of your device) using the SIM ejector tool and remove both the SIM and SD cards (if applicable).
  • Android/strong>:

    • Remove the SIM card and SD card in the same way as described above.
